Post Pandemic Capsule Wardrobe

My First Capsule Wardrobe in a LONG time. I thought it was kinda a must-have for those of us returning to the real world after a year of being at home! This is a great way to slowly start dressing up again!! I kept it neutral and comfortable but still stylish and fun!  Be sure and check back the next few days as I will post all the ways you can mix and match these pieces! 

Vintage Beaded tank– I love these types of tops. I always pick them up if I see them at estate sales or antique stores. The tops are classic and add a little pizazz to any look! I LOVE them plain old blue jeans. These tops remind me of the 1920s just add the denim and instant 2020’s look! I have a few picked out that I love on Etsy. Black Twisted Tee– If you haven’t tried Marine Layer tees before this is the time! They are very well made and uber soft love this knotted one it’s perfect for high-waisted pants. And we all need a black tee!

White Super Cool Tee– This tee is from AYR it’s one of my personal favorites!! I have it in black too.

White Sweatershirt– This top has matching shorts, which I also included in this wardrobe! There are other colors so you can get it in any color you like and yes I do wear them together with a simple pair of sandals.

Black Midi Dress- This is another Marine Layer piece. Check it out on their site It has LOTS of great reviews for a reason it is soft and versatile and is fully lined for a little extra smoothing/support!

Black and White Button Down– From our favorite discount store… Target. Love this fun top that can be layered over the dress, or wear with jeans or shorts!

AYR Bomb Pop– One of my two favorite pairs of denim. Very flattering, and well made. I have recommended these to lots of people and they love them!

Mother Jeans– My other favorite denim for summer wide leg, distressed lightweight, and super comfy.

J.Crew Shorts– Ladies these are shorts MUST have!! I have been recommending these for years and years. They are amazing come in a rainbow of colors and multiple inseams!

Flowy Black Pant– Comfy yet very chic!

Straw Bag– Who doesn’t love a straw bag for the summer??

Monica Vinader Bracelet and Ring– I love the classic pieces by this English jewelry designer! You can wear these pieces every day with everything and the bracelet can be engraved (instant heirloom)

Silver Hoops– Super classic and easy to wear

Vintage Scarf– I wear it as a headband, around your neck, or as a belt!

Belt– Love this Claire V belt

White Statement Earrings– Very 1960s I love these statement earrings from Sezane. They come in other colors as well

Zodiac Necklace – I have one of these and love it! It is stunning alone and great layered as well

Initial Necklace– Love this take on the initial necklace

White Slides– These are so classic looking and will go with EVERYTHING

Grey Platform – These shoes are more of an investment. BUT they are more comfortable than most of my shoes are in a neutral color. And all my of past Pedro Garcia shoes look amazing after years and years of wear. I promise if you invest in Pedro Garia you will not be disappointed

Slides– These gorgeous Vince slides are comfy and practical, if you need another color there are quite a few choices!

Style Your Life and Career Kickstarter Give Back, With Style and Career Advice!

If you aren’t in the loop, on December 31st, I announced my new social cause for Style Your Life. I am now working with women in recovery from mental illness and addiction.

After a few very long and hard years, I finally decided to help my anxiety and depression.  I was first diagnosed with depression when my son was born in 2003. Although I am pretty sure I have struggled with depression and anxiety most of my adult life.  Getting help is the best thing I have ever done for myself, and I wish I had the courage to do this years ago…

I just kept thinking I’d bounce back, and life kept throwing shit at me. When Covid hit the financial strain and a long list of personal issues, I hit a wall in September. It was the worst and best day. Because I could not continue down the same path. I had tapped all my tools and resources, and it just wasn’t enough. I needed help.

So I got some real help, like in-treatment help. I checked into a program and for 90 days lived, ate, slept, and breathed, working on my mental health. I learned a tremendous amount about myself; I learned tools, tricks, and more than I realized was possible. It was awful and painful and the hardest thing I have ever done, but it helped a lot. I was able to process things I had never processed and talk about things I had never talked about. This path changed me in the best way. I continue working on my mental health every.single.day. My mental health is the most important thing in my life, and your mental health should be your number one too.

I will no longer be quiet about my illness, so people “like” me or don’t think I am “crazy.” I am crazy, lol, and so are you probably. But not because I have a chemical imbalance in my brain. I was born this way. I didn’t ask for this illness, and I didn’t do anything to get it. It is part of who I am, and it is not going anywhere, so I will always have to make sure I am doing the things that help make it better. If I had cancer, I would have sot treatment and gotten help and people wouldn’t have judged me. And more importantly, I wouldn’t have judged myself. So why do we judge mental illness?

After my treatment and meeting SOOO MANY wonderful women that also just needed some help too, I thought, why can’t I use this other amazing part of me, this skill that I love, to help others. I have the clothes, and I have the ability to teach, so I decided to start helping. Then my amazing friend Tracy Snock from The Career Kickstarter told me about her business, and I knew it was magic!

The lovely Tracy and I hosted our first event on February 2oth. Tracy presented resume & job interview tips and tricks, and I did what I do and talked about personal style & dressing for job interviews. Then, because of our friend’s and client’s generosity, we could gift these lovely women each a few outfits. The ladies had a wonderful time and left with their heads held high—newfound confidence in themselves and fabulous new outfits.

My goal for 2021 is to host one of these events every other month.  If you know of a facility in San Diego interested in having us, please reach out to me or share this with them. We donate our time and talents, so there is no financial obligation.
