Shabby Nest – Guest Post

I’d like to thank Jennifer for asking me to guest post on her fabulous blog!! My
name is Wendy Hyde. I am completely obsessed with all things house and home and
I love to write about making beautiful and livable spaces without breaking the
bank at my blog, The Shabby Nest.

Jennifer has been sharing a bit of Tween Inspiration lately, and I’d like to
continue that by sharing some fun bedrooms perfect for Tweens.
The trick to decorating for a tween is to add sophistication without losing that
element of playfulness. In this room, the sophisticated
color palette is made more whimsical with the use of the on-trend
chevron fabric.  The pink owl pillow? Well, it just keeps it fun!

This tween boys’ room is pure perfection!  The colors are bright and
happy.  The wood palette headboard is clever and unexpected, and the modern
desk and chair tells the world that this boy is  no little kid!

I’ve loved this girls’ room since I first laid eyes on it.  The polka-dot
walls add the perfect touch of whimsy while the green damask and monogrammed
pillows add a bit of sophistication.

The contemporary lines and streamlined color palette of this room give
it a grown-up feeling, but the floral rug and fringed lampshade make it all
girl.

One of my favorite boy rooms ever!  The finishes in this room lend it
texture and patina, giving it a sense of age.  But the color choices and
the use of bold patterns make it up-to-date and fun for an almost-teen.

What really appeals to me about this room is the gallery-style display of black
and white photography.  This would be a perfect way to let your tween girl
display her current boy-pop-star obsession in a less obnoxious manner.  😉

The color palette screams “I’m a grown up!” while the whimsical headboard and a
pink fur pillow are just right for a little girl.

Here, the opposite holds true.  A color palette of raspberry and turquoise
appeals to the little girl in your tween, while sophisticated furnishings
and a pretty chandelier give this room a grown-up feeling.
