5 Truths About the Personal Shopping Experience
Hey everyone! I’m Stephanie and I recently had the chance to work with Jennifer to help me shop for a professional branding photoshoot. I was definitely hesitant to hire a stylist because I thought I would be able to pick out items on my own for these photos, but my experience was a pleasant surprise!
Before I begin raving about Jennifer, I will share the 5 myths I believed before working with a stylist. Then I will share the truths behind my actual experience!
Myths
- Only fancy people work with personal stylists
- It’s expensive
- It will be really time consuming
- I thought I didn’t have anything to work with
- I was afraid my body was “weird”
Myth 1: Only fancy people work with personal stylists
I didn’t think I was “deserving” of working with a personal stylist because I am just a normal girl who is a working mama and needs casual outfits. I always imagined stylists preparing someone for a big event only, not helping them with their day to day wardrobe!
Myth 2: It’s expensive
I’m sure a lot of us share this hesitation. I was hesitant to hire Jennifer because I was afraid of the costs of everything. What I discovered was, she was able to pull items for me that were on sale/clearance. She also went to the stores that were offering sales etc to select clothing items for me. All in all, I spent a lot less on the clothing than I thought, and the clothing were all items I would wear over and over not just for my photo shoot!
Myth 3: It will be really time consuming
Jennifer had everything picked out for me before I even arrived at the mall. This was so amazing to me because all I had to do was head to the dressing room and try things on. If something caught my eye she would pull it for me while I was trying other things on, or grab other sizes for me. This actually saved me a ton of time and by myself I would have spent several trips to different places to find what I ended up buying.
Myth 4: I don’t have anything already to work with
Before shopping, we did a closet audit. I was able to see that I actually had a really good foundation of clothing, I just needed some pieces that got me excited that I could pair up with basics I already had in the closet!
Myth 5: I was afraid my body was “weird”
Another hang up I’m sure a lot of us can relate to. Jennifer took my shape into account when pulling clothing and helped me discover the shapes of clothes that look best on my body!
Overall my experience was excellent and saved me time and money as well! I would highly recommend working with Jennifer in the future for your styling needs!
