We all love going to a store that we can spend a fraction of the cost of a designer store, but still look just as chic, right? Today I am spilling 8 Secrets for buying higher end looking pieces at stores like Target and Old Navy. This post is about how to look high end at budget prices.
7 Secrets to Look High End at Budget Prices
- Matching patterns at the seams. High end clothing takes a much closer consideration of how they put together their pieces of clothing so that the patterns match. So a lot of times lower end clothing may not match patterns at the seams. This is something to look for when wanting to look high end.
- Hand or feel of the fabric. Select smooth, soft, quality fabrics. No one wants to wear clothing that is icky, hot or scratchy. Pay attention to fabrics that feel amazing on your body. You want it to feel yummy on your skin and you’ll be a lot more likely to wear it.
- The wash of the fabric. Usually, with denim avoid super trendy overly distressed or yellowed washes. If in doubt go dark with matching stitching. Avoid super trendy washes or things that look yellowish. Look for rich elevated washes. Dark washes always look richer and more elegant.
- Buttons and Hardware. Details!! Look for expensive heavyweight hardware and attractive buttons and zippers.
- Tailoring- If it doesn’t fit well it will automatically look cheap. Items that fit close to your body are always going to look better and help you look more put together. Not to mention they will be slimming as well.
- Fabric -The quality of the fabric and the actual fabric you select. If going for faux leather purchase a soft no plastic feeling faux. When buying bags I stick to nylon, straw, or canvas.
- Colors- On-trend colors are the safest and will automatically look more expensive. Higher end clothing retailers will always be carrying the items
I hope these ideas help you look high end at budget prices no matter where you’re shopping. Even if you’re buying something from a boutique that is expensive, keep your eye out on these details and you will look like you’ve spent a million bucks on your clothes!
