On Monday, we talked about creating a back to school girls capsule wardrobe! In that post, I shared the exact items that you can purchase to make a remixable wardrobe, and I shared two collages with ideas on how to style the black leggings and the camo pants. Click here to read it, and to get the links to all the basics you’ll need to create this capsule.
Today, I am just doing a quick post to share two more collages that use a few of the other staples from the back to school girls capsule wardrobe.
Back to School Capsule Wardrobe – Girls Pt. 2
What is a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe, if you haven’t seen them all over social media, is an intentional wardrobe method. It contains clothing that can all coordinate. Typically, capsule wardrobes are also minimalist wardrobes because they contain only what is necessary and little if anything else.
This is especially great for kids because:
- Fewer choices means everything coordinates so picking outfits is easier.
- There is much less to clean, fold, and put away so room cleaning is easier.
- Less clothing means less laundry.
What items should we select for our capsule?
Here are a few foundational items I suggest when making a capsule wardrobe for your daughter.
- 4 pairs bottoms (long pants for fall). 1 dark solid, 1 light solid and 2 fun prints. I chose a camo print this time around!
- 1 dress (great transitional piece from summer)
- Overalls (super cute and versatile)
- 3 brightly colored t-shirts
- 1 short sleeve top with a design
- 1 long sleeve top/sweater with a design
- 3 completer pieces (jackets, 2 solid 1 pattern)
- 3 pairs of fun shoes (sneakers, boots and dressier)
- Other accessories that go well
