How to LOOK expensive: #1 The Fit!
As much as I LOVE fast fashion and discount stores, one of biggest issues you will encounter in these stores is ill-fitting, boxy and unflattering cuts. There are exceptions of course and those are the pieces I purchase and have clients purchase. I am NOT a fashion snob I will literally shop anywhere. I actually prefer shocking people when I tell them that I found a super fun piece at F21, H&M, Target, etc.
So when you head to the fitting room at one of these stores…wait you ALWAYS try on before you buy right?!?! See, I know you don’t because I have clients that tell me the truth. Please try on everything before you purchase it!! It may take a little time but it takes less time than returns, or worse, never returning and wasting money!!
Once you are in the fitting room, look at the way the garment lays on you. Are the seams resting in the right places? Does it pucker at the stitching anywhere,? Do the arm holes lay flat? Is the cut of the garment flattering or boxy?
Below I have examples of things to look for in the fitting room both good and bad.
We will start with the bad….
Now here are examples of garments that fit well….
