Contouring 101

Contouring is every beauty professional’s secret to a
slimmed down face. With the New Year here, the number one resolution is to lose
weight and to get into shape. If this is one of your New Year’s
resolutions, you can look better at once by learning how to use some basic makeup techniques
to contour your face. The basic rule to contouring is: Dark shades recede, while
light colors bring features forward.  If you are wishing to hide that double
chin of yours or to make your nose appear smaller I can explain to you how that
is done. 

All you need is a contour color or matte bronzer one or
two shades deeper than your skin tone and a luminous highlighter that’s a bit
lighter than your complexion. You can use a powder or a cream, or a combination
of both. The key is to blend…blend…blend!

If you want to give the illusion of a thinner nose
all you do is apply the darker shade to the sides of the nose (stop at nostrils)
and then apply a highlighter to the bridge of the nose in a vertical line. For
thinner cheeks, make a “fish face” and apply your darker shade under the cheek
bone and then apply your lighter shade above.

of the darker and lighter shades on your face. Hopefully, these steps will
change how you do your makeup all together. Once I learned how to do contouring,
I never did my makeup the same again. These simple tricks should help you feel
