The Fabulous RORY is back !! If you haven’t read her previous columns they are listed under Rory or Better then average on the side bar.
Happy New Year! Did you make any resolutions? Lose weight, get in shape or run a marathon? Well, we all start out the new year with the best intentions and let it fizzle over time, don’t we? My theory (which I am currently trying to implement in my own life) is to set yourself up so that you can’t fail. (Or that it’s really hard to fail) If I have my exercise clothes laid out, my shoes and socks together, my ipod charged and ready and a bottle of water chilling in the fridge, I don’t have a lot of excuses left to sit on the couch.
When you are full figured, it can be difficult to find workout clothes that fit right which makes it even harder to get motivated, right? Well, I hope I can help you with that. Here are 3 different sets for whatever type of exercise you like to do! All are budget friendly and modest and casual enough to wear to pick up the kids from school.
Now I know I just said these are budget friendly sets, but I think you should always splurge on good shoes. Cheap shoes wear out faster and often don’t have the right kind of support for the wear and tear you put on them (especially when running!). Also, I have included some accessories that I think are great.

The running set includes some items that my husband turned me onto. He is a runner. The RoadID is such a genius idea. It’s a bracelet that has your personal info engraved into it. You probably don’t carry your id with you when you run (or bike or walk), but what if you got hit by a car or injured? You can personalize it with your husband’s cell phone #, any allergies that you have (like penicillin), and a motivational phrase. My husband’s says “Go Daddy Go”. It’s just $19 and it could totally save your life. And if you run in the dark, you need a reflective item. I think the belt is a little cooler than a yellow vest. You can also get reflective laces for your shoes or blinking armbands.
I hope this helps get you moving and grooving….until next time….Rory
